Friis Transmission

Friis Transmission Formula (Basics, Formula & Derivation)

Friis Transmission formula explains the transceiver system using Antennas.

Examples of Friis Transmission Formula
Question 1 In the Satellite Communication System, the height of the satellite is 36000 km above Earth and operates at 4000 MHz. The gain of the transmitting antenna is 20 dB and that of the receiving antenna is 40 dB. Find,
1. The free space transmission Loss,
2. The power received when transmitted power is 200W.

Question 2 Two planes 50km apart are in radio communication. The transmitting plane delivers 2000W with a 3 GHz operating frequency. Its antenna gain is 40 in the direction of the other plane. The power absorbed by the receiving antenna of the second plane is 1µW. Calculate the Effective Aperture of the Receiving antenna.
